The physiotherapy department of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust bought a Nintendo Wii which is proving successful both among the patients and the staff. They are using the ‘Wii-habilitation’ to improve the strength and co-ordination of amputee patients. The user will have some physical movements while playing on the Wii which involves sports like golf, tennis, boxing, bowling and baseball.

The stroke unit also has a Wii Fit like the pediatrics, the respiratory team and the Shipley Hospital. The Wii Fit is taken out to community events by a team at Bradford and Airedale Teaching Primary Care Trust. In this way they encourage people to try new ways of exercising and remain fit.
